She wrote an extensive corpus of fantasy novels and short stories : Anne Rice, who sadly passed in 2021 (aged 80), was celebrated as a major fantasy author, thanks to her major reinvention of Mary Shelley or Bram Stoker original myths. Fame fell upon her when the film ‘Interview with a vampire’ starring Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise hit the box office in 1994. Ever since, Anne Rice popularity never went down and it’s actually odd it took so long for further adaptations of her work to be produced.

It started – once again – with ‘Interview with a Vampire’, as if it was the inevitable front door to her universe. It’s more likely that both book and movie popularity made natural its expansion as a TV show. After 2 successful seasons, strengthened by the continuing hype of many gothic fantasy shows (Vampire Diaries, Supernatural, True Blood, Teen Wolf, Evil, From, and many more), ‘Mayfair Witches’ starring Alexandra Daddario came out. After the vampires, the witches, but a similar recipe with blending gothic atmosphere, handsome cast, dark secrets and old myths. Like ‘Interview …’, ‘Mayfair’ became a popular 2-seasons series. It was just a matter of time before a new Anne Rice’s adaptation hit the screen.

3rd series based on the famous author, Talamasca: The Secret Order follows a secretive society that tracks down supernatural beings like witches, vampires, and werewolves. ‘Talamasca’ looks like a Rice’s bestiary rundown, including all creatures in one single story, bringing together many myths and delivering some kind of delicious ‘buffet’ for fantasy lovers.
