The virtuoso of the 18th century — caught in a dramatic tale of genius, envy, and passion.

Vienna, 18th century: At 25, Amadeus arrives in the bustling city. No longer a child prodigy, he longs for creative freedom. But his world soon collides with two pivotal figures: his fiercely loyal future wife Constanze Weber, and the devout court composer Antonio Salieri.
As Amadeus’s brilliance continues to shine — despite his inner demons, questionable reputation, and the skepticism of the conservative court — Salieri becomes increasingly tormented by his rival’s seemingly divine gift. Threatened in everything he holds dear—his talent, his reputation, even his faith in God — Salieri vows to destroy Amadeus.
What begins as a professional rivalry turns into a deeply personal obsession that spans three decades, culminating in a confession of murder — and a desperate attempt to forever entwine himself with Mozart’s legacy.
Based on Peter Shaffer’s award-winning stage play and boldly reimagined by Joe Barton (Black Doves, Giri/Haji, The Lazarus Project), this spectacular five-part series charts the meteoric rise and mythic downfall of one of history’s most iconic composers and rockstar virtuosos of the 18th century: Wolfgang “Amadeus” Mozart.
Starring: Will Sharpe (Giri/Haji, The White Lotus) as musical prodigy Wolfgang “Amadeus” Mozart, Paul Bettany (WandaVision, A Very British Scandal) as envious court composer Antonio Salieri, and Gabrielle Creevy (In My Skin, Black Doves) as Constanze Weber, Mozart’s passionately devoted wife.
The Sky Original Amadeus premieres exclusively on Sky Show on 21 December.
