
Production has started on the international co-production. The series, produced by Sky Switzerland, SRF, ARD Degeto Film and Silver Reel, is being filmed in Switzerland, South Tyrol and Bavaria.
Rafe Spall is one of the UK’s best-known actors and has appeared in internationally acclaimed films and series including The Big Short and Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom. Deleila Piasko is considered one of the most distinctive Swiss acting talents of her generation. She gained international recognition through the Netflixproduction Transatlantic and most recently impressed audiences in the award-winning series Die Zweiflers.
The cast also includes Dominic Geissbühler (known as the Bernese dialect musician Edb), Rick Okon, Marie Leuenberger, Mike Müller (Der Bestatter), Marcus Signer, Susanne Kunz, Dimitri Stapfer, Jeannette Hain and Michael Neuenschwander. For Dominic Geissbühler, this marks his first film role.
The Death of Sherlock Holmes explores a chapter from the works of Arthur Conan Doyle that has so far only been hinted at. The story begins with the supposed death of the famous detective at the Reichenbach Falls and follows what happened in the years afterwards, combining the classic Sherlock Holmes universe with a contemporary perspective on identity, memory and belonging.
Filming is currently taking place in Valais, with additional shoots scheduled in South Tyrol and Bavaria. The series is directed by Pierre Monnard and Claudia Bluemhuber, with scripts written by André Küttel and Simone Schmid. The production is led by Silver Reel in collaboration with Sky Switzerland, SRF and ARD Degeto Film.
The series is scheduled to premiere in 2027.
